Pellet stoves are probably our favorite type of alternative heating source, for a few big reasons:
They're clean. Pellet stoves are designed to burn their pellet fuel completely, with almost no volatile
organic compounds (VOC) or particulates. They produce between 1-3% ash content, which can be used as an eco-friendly fertilizer
for gardens, and carbon dioxide. (Note: Because pellet fuel is a biofuel, the CO2 they produce does not cause a net increase
in atmospheric carbon, so it does not contribute to global warming.)
They're safe.
Because pellet stoves are designed to burn completely, when they're operating correctly they will produce no creosote,
meaning that they will elliminate the danger of a chimney fire. Additionally, most pellet stoves also shut-off automatically
if they approach a dangerous temperature. These safety features, among others, give you peace of mind with your home-heating
choice.
They're low-maintenance. Load the stove with pellets once every
12-36 hours, perform light maintenance (wiping glass, removing ash, etc.) on the correct schedule, and that's it. The
stove is thermostatically controlled and the hopper automatically feeds fuel into the burn chamber. The maintenance and legwork
of woodstoves are replaced by ease and warm comfort.
They're economical.
Pellets are the most inexpensive option for heating your home which does not require pollution or constant monitoring, as
evidenced by this graphic from the Pellet Fuels Institute:
They're versatile. Pellet stoves can take the form of an insert, a freestanding stove, or
even a whole-home furnace capable of holding up to 350lbs of pellets in a single fuel load. Pellet stoves, like gas fireplaces,
can be vented directly outside, without need for a flue tie-in (as long as the vent area isn't near anything combustible),
or through an existing chimney with a 4" stainless steel chimney liner. This versatility translates to an ease of installation
that means even more cost-savings for you, the consumer.
With all these benefits, you can see why we at Clements love pellet stoves. They make sure that our customer is totally
satisfied with their heating equipment, and is as safe as they can be. In fact, we're so big on them that Ken Clements,
our founder, has two of them in his home which operate near-constantly during the winter.
At
Clements we proudly sell Enviro pellet stoves. Enviro carries a wide variety of stoves for many different needs. The Enviro
MAXX produces up to 70,000 BTUs, heats over 2700 sq. ft and operates for up to 130 hours on a single fuel load.
On the opposite end, the Enviro Mini is 18"x19", while still having a hopper capacity of 50lbs! These stoves and
anything in between are available. Give us a call and our customer service representatives will be happy to answer any questions.
